After my resit in June and spending a lot of time on writing a paper, I became really into writing. I had found out that writing theoretical papers had helped me communicate my work better, and give it an extra layer. For that reason, during summer and the first week of my third year, I spend a lot of time writing papers. In university I follow a english writing class, where I get professional help on writing academic pieces. But the teachers from the research station at WdkA, have really inspired me. During my practice I have had my talks with my theory teachers about writingm, and they understand my aspiration to combine academic writing as research to my design works.

"\"Grafisch Ontwerpen is een methode om mezelf te uiten en om theorie die ik leer te communiceren.\"
We zijn het met je eens dat je een kritische denker bent. Je hebt scherpe observaties en weet deze ook helder te presenteren."

When I was presenting my competency portfolio last schoolyear, I was still figuring out how I should communicate my knowledge and criticism. It has always been clear that I am someone with a strong voice, that is why writing has been very comforting for me. Whenever I have trouble coming up with new insights or concepts, I start doing some digging inside the university archive and I will find new interesting theory's that I want to communicate. For me it is a way to build a bridge between my words and my visuals.

I have made both visual essays as written essays. When writing or designing, I like to merge myself in the position of the criticist. Whether that is me or another group of people, I want to try and understand what others feel and/or think. In my visual designs I try to communicate my criticism by exaggerating, but when I am writing I try to give viewers a more theoretical approach to what my concept is about. It makes my sometimes extreme and complex concepts more manageable.
